Nature never ceases to amaze with the beautiful things it has created. One of those is an incredibly unique plant known as “the skeleton flower.” Take a look at the transformation that occurs in this flower during the rain.
The Diphylleia grayi is an extraordinary flower with white petals, found predominately in Japan and China, the flower possesses an unique trait. Whenever water touches its petals, they become transparent.
Typically white in color, the umbrella-like petals become clear when wet, and almost resemble glass.
After drying, they return to their original hue.
The perennial flower usually blooms from the middle of spring until the beginning of the summer.
They prefer colder conditions, and are found in partially shaded, cool mountainous areas.
In summer the flowers fall from their stems and are replaced with bright blue berries.
